        視網膜是位于眼睛后部的多層結構。它包括感光細胞和視網膜色素上皮細胞(RPEpiC)。RPEpiC位于神經視網膜和脈絡膜之間,形成視網膜外屏障,控制著視網膜下腔的化學構成。人們發現RPEpiC內有許多特定偏振分布的細胞內蛋白質。與其他上皮細胞通常頂生面沒有基質相比,RPEpiC的頂生面胞膜是與細胞外基質相接觸的。RPEpiC在調節相鄰的感光膜周轉、維生素A的代謝、保護細胞內黑色素所致的視網膜光損害中起關鍵作用。RPEpiC與很多視網膜疾病的發病相關,如增殖性視網膜病變和年齡相關性黃斑變性。

        Regarding Human Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells Catalog #6540 Are the cells from a single human donor or multiple in a pool? If single donor, can one order vials from a few donors to compare? Can you provide a list of available donors and their characteristics? I have read the following paper where this product is used and they make the comment that they conducted their work with hRPEpC in multiple donors. Toxicol Sci. 2015 Mar;144(1):163-72.
