        人角膜是一個獨特的組織,因其透明且無血管。角膜包含三個不同的細胞層,外層上皮細胞、中間層基質和內層內皮細胞。角膜上皮細胞在先天免疫反應中起著作用,通過感應病原體存在并發出信號從而激活角膜防御系統。角膜上皮細胞還能高水平的表達乙醛脫氫酶,防止紫外線和4-羥基壬烯醛對細胞造成的傷害。角膜內皮細胞的更新由細胞因子調控,比如表皮生長因子,它能激活上皮細胞深層的同源受體。體外培養角膜內皮細胞已經可以替代毒理學檢測中的動物實驗。它們也可以被用來研究角膜細胞的增殖、分化和死亡之間的高度集成和平衡。

        ? ?Sciencell研究實驗室的HCEpiC是從人角膜分離得到的,原代凍存,冰凍運輸。每管細胞密度超過5×10^5/ml。細胞特性經無血清培養基中鏡檢為鵝卵石形態,CK-18,和-19免疫熒光鑒定。本細胞經檢測不含HIV-1、HBV、HCV、支原體、細菌、酵母菌和真菌。如采用ScienCell?實驗室特制的培養基,可保證此細胞10倍增增殖。
