      ? ? 平滑肌細胞在動脈疾病中起到重要作用。血管SMC切換到增殖表型的能力是血管疾病的發生和發展的主要因素之一。最近的研究表明SMC表達鈣離子通道、細胞間粘附分子(ICAM-1)、血管細胞粘附分子-1(VCAM-1)。ICAM-1和VCAM-1在SMC的表達可能有助于在血管壁的炎癥反應,并可能參與血管疾病的進展。血管平滑肌細胞在血管疾病研究中起到重要作用,可以被用來界定治療動脈疾病新的治療靶標。
